Nashville Early Education Coalition: Building a Brand That Reflects Purpose and Play
The Challenge
When NEEC needed a visual identity that could speak to both policy makers and parents, Mazzo Media helped them build a brand rooted in impact—with just the right touch of imagination.
The SOlution
The Nashville Early Education Coalition (NEEC) works at the intersection of public policy, education, business, and philanthropy to promote early learning in Middle Tennessee. When the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee introduced us to the NEEC Executive Director, we quickly aligned around a shared vision: creating a brand that honors children – without looking childish.
As we explored design concepts, the metaphor of building blocks emerged as a powerful way to reflect both play and structure. The final logo featured four interconnected blocks, symbolizing the organization’s four key pillars. Each color corresponded to a specific area of focus and was paired with its own custom iconography, designed for use across marketing, presentations, and educational collateral.
To celebrate the launch of their new brand, NEEC even distributed physical building blocks to their team, bringing the brand to life in a tangible, memorable way.
The RESULTS
The new brand struck the perfect balance of joyful and professional, providing a flexible visual system that could grow alongside the organization. From web to print, internal to external, the identity now communicates clarity, warmth, and mission at every level.

Key Takeaways
When to outsource creative work: When your brand needs to engage a wide range of stakeholders—from parents and educators to donors and policy makers—you need a design partner who can balance strategy with heart.
Why it worked: We listened closely, collaborated openly, and developed a visual concept that was rooted in NEEC’s mission. The building blocks metaphor gave the organization a unique identity that tells a story—and invites others to be part of it.
The Mazzo Media difference: We don’t just design logos. We craft brand systems that connect, communicate, and inspire – turning your mission into a message people can see, feel, and remember.
